About Raj Bhutiani

Qualifications

He has been practising in the UK since 1978. He was granted the Fellowship (FRCS) of the Royal College of Surgeon's, England in 1980. He completed his surgical training at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee under the guidance of Professor Sir Alfred Cuschieri, a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery and in North East England with Mr W. W. Wilson, a renowned examiner at The Royal College of Surgeons, England.

Pioneering Works

Mr Bhutiani started the first ever Walk In Walk Out Hernia (WIWO) clinic in the NHS at ACAD Unit of NWLH NHS Trust. This clinic gives patients a choice to have their operation under Local anaesthesia on the date of their choice and by visiting the hospital only once for both consultation and operation

Teaching Experience

I have been involved in teaching medical students and nursing staff during all my registrar posts in Accidents and Emergency, General and Vascular Surgery in Perth Royal Infirmary, Ninewell Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, Sunderland District General Hospital and now at Northwest Thames NHS Trust.

I am a faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for Teaching "Basic Surgical Skills" and "Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patients (CRISP)" courses.
